Legal
This policy explains what personal information we collect when you enquire about or book a charter with Aino Yachts, why we collect it, and how we look after it.
01Who we are
Aino Yachts is operated and owned by Castech Ltd., a company registered in Malta. Castech Ltd. is the controller of the personal information described in this policy: we decide how and why it is used, and we are responsible for looking after it.
02What we collect
We only ask for what we need to plan your charter and look after you on board.
When you use “Plan your charter”: your name, email address and (if you give it) your phone number; how and in which language you would like us to reply; your preferred waters, type of charter, dates and any event; the number of adults and children; the occasion (and, for corporate charters, your company name); the yacht or boat you are interested in; and anything else you choose to tell us.
When you use “Just a quick question?”: your name, your email address or phone number, and your message.
If you fill in the optional preference sheet (“Make it yours”): your dining, drinks and catering preferences, the water toys and special touches you would like, and any dietary requirements or allergies you tell us about.
When you contact us directly by email, phone or WhatsApp: the details you share with us in that conversation.
When you browse the website: technical information such as your IP address, browser and the pages you visit, as recorded by our website host and content delivery provider (Cloudflare) to deliver and protect the website. The enquiry form also remembers your answers in your own browser (local storage) so that nothing is lost if you reload the page; this stays on your device and is cleared once your enquiry is sent.
03Why we use it
We use your information to:
- reply to your enquiry and prepare a proposal — this is a step you ask us to take before a charter contract;
- arrange and carry out your charter, including catering, transfers and the services you request — to perform our contract with you;
- keep records for accounting, tax and maritime purposes — to meet our legal obligations;
- keep the website secure, prevent spam and make sure it works properly — our legitimate interest in running a safe, reliable website.
We do not sell your information and we do not use it for automated decision-making. We will only send you news or offers if you have asked us to.
04Dietary requirements and allergies
Information about allergies or dietary requirements can reveal details about your health. Sharing it is entirely voluntary. We use it only to prepare your charter, we share it only with the crew and the chef looking after you, and we delete it after the charter season.
By providing it, you consent to its use for this purpose. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us; we will then delete that information.
06International transfers
Some of our service providers may process information outside the European Economic Area. When this happens we make sure it is protected, for example by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses or an adequacy decision.
07How long we keep it
We keep enquiries that do not lead to a booking for up to 24 months, so that we can help you if you come back to us, and then delete them. For charters that go ahead, we keep booking, accounting and tax records for as long as Maltese law requires. Dietary and allergy information is deleted after the charter season. Your other preferences are deleted at the same time, unless you ask us to keep them for your next visit.
08Cookies
We do not use advertising or analytics cookies. The website only uses what is strictly necessary for it to work, such as remembering your language preference and protecting the site and the enquiry form against abuse. These do not track you across other websites.
The fonts on this website are served from our own server, so no third-party font service is involved when you visit.
09Your rights
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation you have the right to:
- access the information we hold about you;
- ask us to correct or delete it;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, how we use it;
- receive a copy of it in a portable format;
- withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it.
To use any of these rights, just write to us (details below); we will reply within one month. If you are not happy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Information and Data Protection Commissioner in Malta (idpc.org.mt) or to the data protection authority where you live.
10Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
